. >>> let's turn now to the troubled rollout of obama care and the latest. a big deadline, december 23rd. that is the final day people can sign up for health care coverage and have their coverage begin, if they don't have it now, on january 1st. so you got to do it by the 23rd of this month. but the ongoing problems with the federal website and getting customer information to insurers could mean that some people who think they are going to get covered, may not be. and as it turns out issues with people trying to sign up or extending to certain state exchanges now too. those had been working separate from the federal we can site. now some of those aren't working. >> reporter: not only the federal obama care website that's had its difficulty. rebecca pierce who was in charge of the troubled state-run website resigned friday and some members hypotheticaling she was forced out. they signed up just over 3,000 people by november 23rd and only 700 more one week later. the goal by the 1st of march is 150,000. >> we're for competition and selling insurance across state lines. and above all, we're

stopped trying to repeal obama care, their plan seems to be to try to make it not work. for people trying to get insurance, as the whole idea of getting insurance, what that means in terms of their principles is one thing. what that means in terms of strategy, if they're going to tell people not to get insurance, where does that strategy end? where does it lead to, for republicans? >> well, i mean, people are signing up. kentucky is a great example of the success with regard to the medicaid expansion. but if the republican efforts like you just described are geared toward turning away the young invincibles, then what i think is really going on, they're trying to subvert this model of this. if people who are of means are buying in so we can provide that safety net for people who have not yet had insurance. so if the young invincibles are convinced economic-wise, and everybody has to pay more for now expanding the tent for medicaid recipients, i think that is what it is all about so they can put numbers on the board and say see, we told you this is a drain on our economy. >> if they thought

the official restart of the obama care era and the day the window finally closed for good for republicans trying to kill the thing. from the day obama was elected president, republicans have been determined to block health care reform. they got scott brown elected. they took the law all the way to the supreme court, voted dozens of times to defund or repeal it, shut down the government for 16 days, and obama care survived all of it. irony is that while republicans couldn't kill obama care, the administration almost could. >> good evening. president obama now finds himself compared to president george w. bush, as in the problems with the health care plan have become president obama's katrina. >> but today, the website is now fixed enough that it looks like obama care is really here to stay. the repeal strategy is dead and obama care is out of the icu. according to the administration, the error message rate for the front end of the website is less than 1%. that's down from about 6% last month. the site can now handle 50,000 users at a time, 800,000 per day. keep in mind, at one point, the s
